Bob Zitter is HBO’s Executive Vice President, and Chief Technology Officer, and has been with HBO for 23 years. He is responsible for the company’s technology interests worldwide, overseeing technical aspects of production, network origination and distribution. Bob is also responsible for HBO’s new technology assessment, and has been intimately involved with their new business development. He was one of the founders of HBO’s businesses in Latin America, Asia and Central Europe.

Under Bob’s stewardship, HBO’s Technology group has led the television industry to bring about a number of transforming changes:

  • Scrambling satellite television signals
  • The Introduction of Satellite Direct Broadcasting
  • Pioneering Digital Television Distribution
  • The Introduction of “Multiplex” Networks
  • The First High Definition Television Network
  • The introduction of Subscription Video on Demand
He is an Emmy Award recipient in recognition of HBO’s world pioneering use of satellites for television distribution.  Bob also received The Vanguard Award for outstanding leadership in science and technology from The National Cable Television Association and is active on numerous television industry committees.
